The Continental Hotel Art Prize has been running for an incredible 12 years and has become an institution on the Mornington Peninsula. It attracts Australia wide attention and has been judged by many well known and respected artists.

As well as a First Prize ($1500), we also have the Linda Gebar Encouragement Award ($500), which helps to inspire new and up and coming artists to continue their passion. Our hanging space is more relaxed than a formal gallery and we don't charge the fees to hang works that galleries do, which makes it accessible to more artists. By supporting our local artists, we encourage new and emerging artists, as well as helping to promote artists that cannot afford to show their works in galleries.

There are no subject restraints for the competition, but conditions apply. Entries are due on a Sunday in May at The Continental Hotel, 1-21 Ocean Beach Road, Sorrento, Victoria. Date changes each year.

The judging and award announcement occur approximately 2 weeks after art work are accepted. The opening occurs in the restaurant with free wine and nibbles. All are welcome to attend. Winners are awarded their prize at this time. Competition works are exhibited in The Continental Hotel Restaurant Gallery from May – August.

The Continental Hotel Restaurant Gallery Space creates an environment for people to be exposed to art without entering an art gallery. We have four exhibitions throughout the year and only artists who participate in our annual art prize can exhibit in our other exhibitions.
