Jacki McGregor in Profile

My work, in part, tries to show a glimpse of what’s happening with, to, or around me at the present time. I am interested in human commonalities that disregard our variances, connections in all of us despite our differences. These are often simple things, new emotions, and traits, such as fear, joy, strength and perseverance to name a few. My work revolves mainly around me with the desire that it, in turn, strikes a chord in others.

The drawings and use of ink are based on three things:

  • I identify with ink. It is familiar. I’ve used it all my life. It is, therefore, not scary.

  • It is convenient. Being the mother of a toddler some mediums are just not possible making ink a symbol of what’s currently happening in my life.

  • It’s clean! Both in line, which can be engagingly varied, and to use – to clean up.
